As a Catholic therapist with over 20 years experience, I provide therapeutic counseling to adult Individuals, teens, and couples for a wide variety of issues. My goal is to help my clients become the best version of themselves and to assist them in developing healthy, fulfilling relationships that can last a lifetime. I believe that God loves you and he has a plan for your life. I take a comfortable, casual approach to counseling and draw on the strength of the Holy Spirit for wisdom and guidance. Walt Romano, MA LLP, earned his BS in Human Resources Development with a Concentration in Youth and Adult Services from Oakland University Rochester MI and later earned his MA in Counseling from Oakland U. as well. Walt is certified as a Limited Licensed Psychologist in the state of Michigan.
Walt has been working with individuals, families, couples and groups for more than 20 years in private practice settings and as a school counselor in both public and parochial schools. Before getting into the counseling field, Walt worked for 10 years in the automotive supplier arena providing customer service and support to several manufacturing and engineering facilities. This experience allowed Walt to hone his problem-solving skills and learn to be customer-focused. His client-centered approach to counseling is rooted in his several years of working with diverse populations in many different environments. In both school counseling and in private practice, Walt works with couples, adults, and adolescents on a variety of issues to help them become the best that they can be. His vast experience includes marriage preparation for couples and individuals, group facilitation and public speaking on a wide range of topics.
With all of his accomplishments, the one in which he is most proud is having been married to his amazing wife, Cindy, for over 30 years. Walt credits her with helping him become the man he is today. Walt and Cindy have three wonderful, successful children and being a dad gives him his greatest satisfaction. Finding time to walk together, Walt and Cindy are able to share an activity that keeps them close and active. Having run two full marathons and several 5K and 10K races, they are able to stay close physically and emotionally. They are also leaders in the Catholic marriage organization Teams of Our Lady, which has had them working with married couples all over the Detroit area for more than 20 years.
