Feel free to call 713 464 8501 or email lltsandy@hotmail.com to schedule a time or inquire about services from an experienced professional of 30+ years in counseling from a Catholic perspective integrated with some of the best mental health processes known.
I have two locations now in Houston for your convenience as well as provide telephone and online HIPAA compliant therapy throughout Texas if appropriate to your needed level of care.
I am a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist, since 1992, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist since 2010 and Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider as of 2019. These specialized trainings assist greatly in addressing the whole person as well as the relationship dimensions in highly effective means. As the clients is able and willing, we can address mind, body and spirit in identifying paths to mental health healing and growth.
Discover ways you can heal from depression, anxiety, trauma, childhood abuse or relationship difficulties in a manner that incorporates potent practices of our faith from early Christian wisdom, with most effective psychotherapy practices such as Imago Relationship Therapy and Cognitive Therapy as well as the newest researched info on the effects of nutrition and mood. With God's grace, we will find ways you can reconnect with what feeds vs robs your soul and move toward healing and growth.
For the last 30 years it has been my humbling call to work and pray with those courageous souls who have come to my private practice for professional counseling, individual, couples or family therapy or vocational assessment and guidance.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Houston, TX. I was blest to be sought out with a fellow Catholic, male colleague, by a pastor of a large parish in Houston 20+ years ago to provide psychotherapy respectful of and integrated with our Catholic faith.
Relationship with Christ informs, enlightens and provides the impetus for my work and life. I believe each soul is a unique creation of our Loving God and therefore it is vital to individualize therapy to your specific needs.
As St. Bernard of Clairvaux said, "The more surely you know yourself loved, the easier you will find it to love in return."
When we meet, we have an initial session focused on respectful assessment to identify and clarify the specific presenting needs and develop an agreed upon approach. I use as appropriate a variety of helpful counseling theories and techniques such as Cognitive Therapy, Object Relations Theory, Play and Nutritional information, Creative Arts therapeutic approaches, Imago Relationship therapy, meditative and contemplative prayer practices, as well as Hypnotherapy as needed and agreed upon by the client.
As a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist for 30 years, I find its theory and practice integrates extremely well with our Christian faith teachings on marriage and family and relationships and is highly effective. Additionally, I have been married 39 years to my one and only spouse.
If you have a desire to live in committed loving relationships and model that powerful way to love as Christ for your children, call or email me and begin or support further the journey.
I also attempt to stay abreast of, and provide clients, current neuroscience research information as pertinent to our work such as certain kinds of prayer as well as nutrition, and its positive effects on therapy outcomes. Exciting news that confirms what we knew by experience that the effects of meditative/contemplative prayer can change the brain in healthy ways. Additionally, there is much 'good news' regarding our ability to improve mood and functioning by impacting food and other nutritional/physiological choices.
I continue to seek God personally in continual conversion of heart as a lifelong Catholic and Permanent professed Lay Cistercian/Trappist. The guidance of Trappist monks for the last 19 years has been a great aid in my work as well.
I believe God has a path to help each of us heal and grow. As a Catholic and Licensed therapist, I believe it essential to listen well to the unique needs of each person to help them find the path and process that will aid him/her. I seek to provide, ethically, the professional skills I have, as a conduit of God's love and mercy in action.

For years, I also used "West Houston Counseling and Assessment Center" as my DBA and provided not only In the office psychotherapy but also offered seminars, workshops and educational talks to other counseling professionals, schools, and churches. I am sincerely committed to maintain outreach to those who may otherwise never have an opportunity to enter counseling offices. I find many read or attend seminars in their churches that are unable to make it to the therapy room. When scheduled far enough in advance presentations can still be arranged for your organization for the same hourly fee.
There is also a Facebook presence for West Houston Counseling and Assessment Center and free resources section on my website as an effort to assist the many who may never come to therapy.
