If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, or life stress, I am here to help. You may be feeling very overwhelmed right now and having difficulty finding a Catholic therapist in your area. I have experience assisting clients with relationship difficulties, trauma including combat trauma and sexual assaults, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addictions.
I provide in-person sessions at my office in Fort Walton Beach, FL. I also provide secure telehealth video sessions or phone appointments.
I enjoy learning more about my Catholic faith and try to continue growing deeper in my relationship with God. My wife and I have four children. We currently practice the Marquette Method of Natural Family Planning, and have practiced Creighton in the past. I am familiar with the struggles that many married Catholic couples can face, and I am happy to provide support to couples or individuals who need assistance with their marriage or intimacy that is also in keeping with Church teachings.
As a therapist, I enjoy using traditional therapy techniques in my sessions with clients, while also incorporating faith. I believe that the Church offers many valuable resources that can give individuals the hope and strength to overcome their struggles. I can enjoy helping my clients to live out a virtuous life that is in keeping with their morals. If clients are struggling with a particular moral issue, I can assist them with examining the behaviors related to their struggle. Together we can come up with a plan, and I will offer encouragement and support along the way.
If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, or stress, I am here to help. In addition, I have experience working with military families and service members. I have helped clients with military unique stressors, trauma from combat, nightmares, hyper-vigilance, irritability, and anger. Service members are often faced with many challenges when it is time to return back home from their deployments. They may struggle with marital/relationship difficulties and how to adjust back to their regular routine while at home. Their family and friends may not understand what they went through and why their behavior is different now compared to before they left.
As a military brat, my parents both served in the United States Air Force. I grew up on several military bases, including Turkey and Japan. In high school and college, I assisted with the Operation Purple adventure camps, which provided support and camaraderie for teenage military dependents. I attended Florida State University, majoring in psychology and criminology. Afterwards, I graduated from the University of South Florida with a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling. I have over 10 years of counseling experience, with 6 of those being specifically with the active duty and veteran military population. I have provided individual and group therapy to this population. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), which is an evidenced based modality for treating PTSD and trauma.
Besides treating trauma and PTSD, I have also assisted clients with family issues, life stress, depression, parenting challenges, and anxiety. I am a practicing Catholic, and I can provide faith-based counseling if requested. I am happy to work with any Christian denomination to explore spiritual challenges or concerns. I can help clients to create a plan for virtuous living.
As a therapist, I acknowledge that it takes courage to reach out for help. I will meet my clients where they are at and discuss goals together.
