Hi there, my name is Olivia Carr, and I am Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. I provide psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults of all ages, couples, and families throughout Orange County at Irvine Family Counseling (IFC). I see clients both in-person and virtually.
To me, being a Catholic therapist primarily means having an integrated understanding of the human person as body, mind, and soul, as well as an understanding that the human person is created for relationship and connection. I believe we are formed by our earliest relationships, which often shape our experience of Who God is and create a template for how we interact with and relate to others later on in life. When we experience relational wounds as children or adults, it can be more difficult to be in healthy relationship with God, ourselves, and others.
Psychotherapy can play a pivotal role in the restoration of these relationships--to self, God, and others--by facilitating psychological, emotional, and relational healing for God's grace to build upon. As God's grace builds on nature, we must tend to the mind and issues of mental health in order to experience the spiritual flourishing for which we were created.
