Message from Therapist

Do you feel “numb”, overwhelmed, or emotionally checked-out? Do these feelings make it hard to show up for the people you care about in your life? Feeling like you haven't “figured out” while you struggle can lead to feeling confused, angry, and ashamed that you're not “good enough”. These harmful feelings can result in addictions, workaholism, low self-esteem, depression, relationship/family issues, and hopelessness. Talking with a therapist can help calm overthinking, provide a sense of hope, and can give you the chance to share what's really on your mind.

I specialize in working with men, aged 18-50. I help men with two things: 1) get deeper self-understanding, 2) build emotional skills to deal with life.  Together we will uncover what motivates you, discuss how to overcome obstacles that hold you back, and with applying our Catholic faith beliefs, build a clear roadmap to help you manage your emotions, control impulsive behaviours, and use your strengths to move you forward.

With my experience, compassionate approach, and diverse therapeutic toolkit, I am dedicated to guiding individuals towards a brighter, more fulfilling future. My mission is to help my clients not only overcome their challenges but also discover their true potential for happiness and growth.

Practice Info

Bio:
My inspiration to become a therapist stems from a lifelong passion for connecting with people and helping them navigate their challenges. I've always enjoyed meeting new people, learning about their lives, and offering support with their problems. This natural inclination led me to volunteer work, where I spent countless hours assisting individuals from diverse backgrounds, further deepening my commitment to making a positive difference in others' lives.

However, it was my personal journey that truly cemented my desire to become a therapist. Facing my own struggles, I sought the help of a therapist, and the experience was transformative. The positive impact of a caring, non-judgmental therapist on my life was profound, offering me the tools and understanding to overcome my issues. This firsthand experience gave me a deep appreciation for the therapeutic process and the power of empathy and active listening. It also shaped my approach to counseling, as I strive to create a safe, supportive environment for my clients, mirroring the compassion and acceptance I received.

My personal experiences allow me to connect with clients on a deeper level, fostering trust and openness. I aim to guide each client through their difficulties with the same dedication and care that helped me, reinforcing my belief in the potential for growth and healing in every individual.

More About Michael Walecki

Therapeutic Approach:
In my practice, I use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I believe that every person needs something different on any given day, so I adjust my approach to meet that need. Whether providing support or offering a gentle challenge, I focus on what arises in each session to help guide clients toward their personal mental health goals.

Areas of Expertise:
I have a special interest in helping people work through substance use issues, anger, depression, and anxiety. By the end of November 2024, I’ll also be trained in EMDR, which will allow me to offer additional support to those processing trauma and difficult experiences.

My Style:
Building a genuine connection with my clients is at the heart of what I do. I’m in-tune with their needs, offering warmth, light-heartedness, and paying close attention to the little things that often go unnoticed in daily life. This helps clients feel truly seen and understood.

Experience and Background:
I’ve been a therapist for several years, and my path to this work was deeply personal. After struggling with and overcoming severe substance use issues, thanks to both therapy and God’s grace, I felt called to help others on their journey to healing. This experience gives me a deep sense of empathy and understanding when working with my clients.

Current Focus:
My focus is to help my clients navigate challenging emotions like anger, anxiety, and depression. I’m especially passionate about guiding them through their personal goals, whether it’s finding peace, gaining self-understanding, or processing trauma.
