I am Michael Brennan, MA, LMHC, NCC, a Licensed Mental Health Therapist in the Olympia, WA area. 

For over 25 years I have (and continue to) work in the Emergency Center of a local hospital. I repeatedly hear of the need for a local faithful Catholic Counselor in our South Sound community and in 2019 opened a private practice to answer this need.  The name of my therapy practice is, "Veni Sancte Spiritus"  (or "Come Holy Spirit").

My faith, rooted in the Roman Catholic tradition, is central to my life and counseling practice.  I offer a safe therapeutic alliance where you will feel connected, affirmed, and validated.  I will be with you as a witness and partner, walking with you on your journey, empowering you to share your thoughts and feelings, and challenging you to take risks to grow. 

I firmly believe that prayer is central to our relationship with God and that coming to understand God's plan in our lives (including the work we do in counseling) necessitates a commitment to prayer.

Bio:
I am Michael Brennan, MA, LMHC, NCC, a private practice therapist in Olympia, WA. I have a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology.

I have an extensive clinical history of assessing and working with clients in an emotional crisis, struggling with relationships and commitment, facing addictions, struggling with anger, and with the acutely mentally ill, including persons who have depression, psychosis, and mania (bipolar).

With my background as a Hospital Emergency Center counselor and a Crisis Counselor for all of my professional career (since 1988), I focus on the issues and work quickly -- and assign homework.
Hours of Operation
Wednesday, Thursday, and some Friday mornings. (Please text or email to make an appointment).
Accepted Forms of Payments
I prefer Zelle and accept cash, check, and credit card. I charge a sliding fee scale from $120 per hour. If you are unable to pay this amount, please talk to me before or during our first session and we can discuss my very generous sliding scale. I do not wish an inability to pay to keep you from engaging in counseling.

Extensive background experience as a Crisis Counselor.

I offer Adult Individual and Couple Therapy utilizing Crisis Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Couples Relationship Therapy, and Catholic / Christian (Faith-Based) Therapy.  

I have clinical openings off and on.  I welcome anyone who is an active member of a Catholic parish and will work with you to find a time for us to start.  

I believe in strengthening individual/family competencies and collaborating with you to facilitate positive and lasting change. I offer a safe therapeutic alliance where you will feel connected, affirmed, and validated.

I preferably meet with clients for the first session (90 minutes) in my office.  Thereafter, our (55-minute) sessions are through online Telehealth.

My Standard Pandemic Counseling Practice: I understand there are differing opinions and beliefs about the appropriateness and effectiveness of vaccinations and the wearing of masks.  To ensure an equal standard of practice, I welcome clients to my office who wear a mask.  Anyone who declines to wear a mask, I welcome your engagement for the counseling session through online Telehealth.
