As a practicing Catholic Christian, my faith is my foundation and per my former pastor/confessor's advice, I have "Christianized" the Person-Centered Approach to ensure I operate within the teachings of the Church.
I look forward to providing acceptance, authenticity, and understanding to our sessions where the Holy Spirit will lead us toward the necessary Wisdom to assist in psychological and spiritual well-being.
I work at Psych and Psych Services located in Elyria, Ohio.
I utilize what I call Holy-Spirit-centered counseling - a Person-centered Approach that I modified to the teachings of the Catholic/ Christian faith. As a classical Person-centered counselor, I work with a wide range of issues, however, the solution to any presenting concern is to provide the core conditions of congruence, unconditional positive regard, and empathy to assist in the client's ability to recognize the steps toward making the changes needed to improve their lives.

According to the Person-Centered Approach, the actualizing tendency is present in the individual and is designed to maintain and enhance the organism. As a Person-Centered Therapist, it is my job to provide the core conditions of Congruence (Authenticity), Unconditional Positive Regard (Nonjudgmental acceptance/support), and Empathy (Process of understanding) to promote the actualizing tendency in my client, trusting he/she knows the direction they need to go better than I ever could.
The 4th core condition that I have added is the Holy Spirit, whereby I trust that He directs the session as I remain committed to principled non-directivity. By treating the client with acceptance, realness, and understanding, this allows the client to stop trying to look for direction outside of him/herself, and rather, the Holy Spirit within (or conscience of an unbeliever) can be promoted leading the client to a closer union with God while simultaneously enhancing his trust in him/herself to make good decisions.
