Message from Therapist

In therapy, there is time to unpack the many things we carry. Counseling provides a small retreat from the current pace of life where you can reflect on what you want your life to be. By identifying practical tools and being willing to take on a new perspective, your time in therapy can provide new insight on how to shape your life with intention.

My work with you will incorporate different therapeutic approaches that we explore together, developing skills for long after you leave our session. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression, scrupulosity, OCD, or other reasons to seek services; if this is the right season for you to explore counseling, reach out today to arrange an initial meeting.

Bio:
Maggie Maxwell is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She believes that a trusting relationship between counselor and client is essential to the healing work of therapy. Maggie brings authenticity and personal warmth into her work as a counselor and seeks to provide a compassionate refuge for her clients to share their stories.

In her sessions, she offers a strengths-based approach to building resiliency and imparts solution-focused skills for lifelong personal development. Her work includes serving individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, relational stress, spiritual suffering, and chronic pain or health conditions, including postpartum and maternal counseling. She has worked in the mental health field through school settings, hospitals, counseling clinics, and in-home therapy programs with people from every age and walk of life.

As an active, practicing Catholic, Maggie understands how the work of healing affects all aspects of an individual; she addresses the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical ways that personal growth may develop in therapy. She integrates multiple therapeutic modalities into her sessions, including attachment-based, narrative, solution-focused, and REBT/CBT techniques.

Maggie completed her master’s degree in education and human development through George Washington University and her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Benedictine College. She currently resides in Northern Virginia with her husband and family.
