Louise has always felt called to serve others through the ministry of counseling. Responding to this call, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Christian Counseling from Franciscan University of Steubenville. Louise also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Theology. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Colorado (LPC.0014517) and National Certified Counselor (NCC #628170).
Louise understands the challenge of taking that first step to begin counseling. Meeting with a counselor does not show weakness but rather displays radical strength. Allowing another person to listen, guide, and direct oneself during the counseling process takes great courage but bears abundant fruit. Together, Louise and the individual will assess strengths, weaknesses, and obstacles to growth, and together construct creative solutions to reach deeper healing.
She works with children, adolescents, adult men and women, couples, and families through a variety of issues, including Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, Scrupulosity, PTSD, Postpartum Depression/Anxiety, Sexual Addiction, Eating Disorders, Grief, and Vocational/Career Discernment. She provides non-emergency professional counseling services and employs the methods of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Art Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, trauma work, and the use of one’s spirituality (specifically, the Christian faith). Louise will make the appropriate referral if the necessary treatment falls outside her skill set in order for her clients to receive adequate care.
She also integrates the truths of the Catholic faith and our human sexuality into her role as a counselor. She completed an immersion course at the Theology of the Body Institute in Downington, PA, and guides engaged and married couples through an eight-week national renowned program designed to heal and strengthen marriages as a trained Prepare/Enrich facilitator. Apart from her work as a counselor, Louise is a Creighton Model FertilityCare System Practitioner with the Archdiocese of Denver and teaches married couples as well as single women about their cycles and fertility.
Regardless of the population or type of problem, Louise views counseling as a means to help every individual achieve abundant life, looking to John 10:10 as the framework:
“I came that they may have life, and have it more abundantly!”
