I help clients identify areas blocking healthy relationships or contributing to depression and anxiety. We use cognitive behavioral principles to improve right thinking which restores positive feelings and behavior. If you feel stuck in unavoidable suffering, we generate ideas together help reframe your life and see new options.
Karis Counseling LLC was started in 2002 to help couples and individuals heal and restore healthy relationships. Karis means grace to grow in awareness and sacrificial love. Integrative Therapy combines spiritual principles with cognitive behavioral therapy and EFT (Emotionally-focused Therapy) to help anxiety, depression, anger, abuse, parenting, mood disorders, eating disorders, and other concerns.
Marriage Counseling. I have specialized in couples counseling to restore intimacy and heal from detachment and chronic conflict. Catholic teaching has given me valuable help for marriages thru Scripture and Theology of the Body. Couples can heal from infidelity, anger, abuse, parenting, depression, anxiety, divorce, and grief.
Individual Counseling/Teen Counseling. Clients heal in context of relationship and compassion. Women's issues address empty nest, depression, anxiety, and direction to get perspective and confidence. Adolescents need to be understood during the stress they feel emotionally and physiologically due to hormonal changes. Parents are included in sessions every third meeting to heal family conflict, personal injury, academic and social concerns.
I connect quickly with clients who return over the years as life presents new challenges. Listening with empathy and helping to generate options together encourages them to have hope for their future and risk change. Counseling is my passion, and I look forward to every story to see how God will heal and restore hope and joy.
I enjoy helping people see and experience God’s healing thru His truth and power. Insight thru psychology helps discern problems and medical conditions contributing to depression and other disorders. Trust and a good connection is important in our counseling relationship. I work to identify hurts and underlying problems to set goals. I value relaxed interaction and structure which fits clients’ personalities and desires.
Karis Counseling LLC was established in 2001 to provide Karis - the grace and acceptance we need to grow and change. Compassion, discernment, wisdom, and knowledge are important in the counseling process as we listen and generate options together.
Specialties: Marriage, Couples, Individual, and Adolescent Counseling.
Being a marriage-friendly therapist is a value I hold in working toward restoring the relationship. We work toward emotional intimacy thru forgiveness, listening, letting go of resentment, and intimate communication. Compassion is shown for both clients for the delicate nature of unresolved conflict and vulnerable feelings under anger. Emotionally-Focused Therapy, EFT, is the approach used in connecting couples toward closeness and peace. Couples address concerns related to chronic conflict, infidelity, grief, career stress, parenting, core values, detachment, and anger.
Couples considering marriage benefit from sessions to help work out conflicts rising from temperaments, family of origin, core values, goals, parenting, substance abuse, anger, anxiety, depression, and spiritual concerns.
Individual concerns are addressed in counseling in a safe, relaxed atmosphere to heal from hurtful life events and disappointments. Trust is established as we identify goals, problems, and desires clients have attempted processing alone. We heal in the context of relationship, and not thru information alone. Cognitive Therapy involves seeing how we think which determines our feelings and therefore, behavior. Utilizing cognitive behavioral principles helps clients to identify dysfunctional thinking, behavior, and emotional responses and work toward making the changes needed to improve their lives.
"We are here to love and support each other, help each other get to heaven,
and become saints over time...and that is our 'reasonable service of worship'."
