Message from Therapist

I am the founder of Growth and Change Counseling, a Christian Counseling group practice.

Therapy is in my blood, it is my professional vocation and the result of the unique experiences that God has used to shape me. These experiences have shaped my life, challenging me to explore the human experience and how to help people live healthy, fulfilled, and godly lives. My diverse interests in counseling, psychology, philosophy, wilderness therapy, theology, and experiential living contribute to my Christian Psychology and Catholic approach to therapy.

Relationships are one of the most important aspects of my life. I treasure my relationship with God, with my wife, and my kids. I’ve come to realize that challenges in relationships are at the center of our mental health problems, whether it be anxiety, depression, family conflicts, or marriage conflicts. I am passionate about helping people to have the relationships that God created all of us to have and I believe that we are relational beings that can be made whole when we have healthy intimacy with others.

At Growth and Change Counseling, we are Marriage and Family Therapists because we know that every Marriage that is struggling can be restored. We embrace some of the most difficult challenges in relationships and we have been blessed to see some of the most broken Marriages restored and thriving.

Practice Info

Bio:
I am a Catholic Marriage and Family Therapist. I grew up Protestant and, through my studies of church history and the Orthodox and Catholic traditions, I came home to the Catholic Church. I grew up in South East Asia and have a unique experience of cultures that provides insight relevant to cross cultural marriages, relationships, and family issues. With this wide ranging perspective, immersion in many cultures, and perpetual study of history, philosophy, and worldviews, I find myself working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, religions, and worldviews. I am not a Catholic Counselor because of who I work with, but because of who I am. At Growth and Change Counseling, we take an integrative approach rooted in a Christian Psychology approach that focuses on helping people restore relational wholeness with God, with loved ones and family members. This leads to the reduction and elimination of mental health conditions like depression and anxiety and increased satisfaction and fulfillment in life.

More About John Kane, LMFT

Growth and Change Counseling

People come to us because they hear we get results quickly and we are able to help people with difficult and complex issues. At Growth and Change counseling, we all train in and utilize a common foundational approach to therapy that we have found to be very effective. While we are integrative and solutions focused, our approach is exclusively our own. You can have confidence that regardless of which therapist on our team you are working with, you will get the same standard of treatment that has given us our reputation for effectiveness and results.

In most cases, you will be working with me. But in certain complex couples and family issues, it is helpful for one or more family members to also work with another therapist on some more individuated issues. By having a team that is united in a common approach, we are able to provide a seamless and consistent level of care for the diversity of needs that arise with couples and families.
