My passion is journeying with clients who wish to understand themselves and engage with therapy on a deep level. Every aspect of life is significant and worthy of exploration: symptoms, relationships, fears, desires, imaginings, dreams, spirituality, griefs, vocation, leisure, work, and love. I strive to create an open, non-judgmental space where my clients can bypass their defenses, experience symptom relief, and deepen their capacity to be in relationship with others and with God.
How does counseling with myself work? In the first session, the client and I explore the reason he or she is seeking counseling including the individual’s hopes and goals. In the second and third sessions, I ask a variety of questions in order to understand the person’s family history, relationships, life challenges, religious experience, and work history to name a few. In subsequent sessions, the client presents for counseling and sets the agenda for what we, with curiosity, explore. Along the way, clients may find themselves experiencing deeper self-understanding and connectedness as well as discovering more adaptive means of coping with reality.
