"When I have been listened to and when I have been heard,
I am able to re-perceive my world in a new way and to go on."
- Carl Rogers

I desire to see my clients feel deeply loved and fully alive! Negative beliefs and fear are often what keep us from feeling that way, and from living a happy, full, and authentic life. Some of the most common negative beliefs I hear often sound like: “I’m not good enough, smart enough, loveable, I have to be perfect or please everyone, I am not safe, It's not ok to feel or show my emotions, or I should have done something or I did something wrong. This list is not exhaustive, but you get the idea. These negative beliefs often have their root in some negative experience we went through earlier in life. These negative experiences could be considered either capitol “T” trauma (ie. death of a loved one, violation of your safety, exposure to a violent event, etc) or small “t” trauma (ie. breakup with a girlfriend, moments of embarrassment, a fight with your spouse, etc). These unprocessed traumatic memories and their associated negative beliefs are what keep us from living that full, happy, authentic life.

Imagine for a moment living a day, week, or month without those intrusive negative thoughts and feelings! Imagine knowing not just in your head, but deeply believing and feeling in your heart that you are good enough, strong enough, and worthy of love! THAT is the goal I have for each of my clients, and as a therapist who specializes in healing trauma and PTSD, I am very confident we can process those negative experiences from your past, and replace the nagging, negative, false beliefs with positive, true beliefs! And not just fluffy “therapist-y” beliefs either, but healthy, true beliefs grounded in reality. I am confident we can do this, because that is what I have been doing with my clients for the last 12+ years in this field, and we can do this for you too!

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to talk more about how therapy works, your potential goals, and how we could work together! (I respond fastest via email). I look forward to meeting you, and to working together to help you live that happy, full, and authentic life!

Thanks much!

Bio:
I came to know Christ first through Young Life when I was a junior in high school. Friends later brought me to St. Josephs in West St. Paul where I continued to grow in the faith, and even received confirmation while a senior in high school.

After graduating, I served with NET Ministries for one year hosting Catholic retreats for teens all across the country. After NET, I did one year of community college, and then entered St. John Vianney Seminary on the University of St. Thomas campus where I studied and discerned the priesthood for three years. This included a study abroad experience in Rome where I was lucky enough to serve Mass for and meet with Pope Benedict XVI! I graduated from the University of St. Thomas with dual Bachelor of Art degrees in Philosophy and Catholic Studies.

After college I moved to Chicago and worked for Totally Yours Pilgrimages, a Catholic pilgrimage company leading tours around the world. I co-lead pilgrimages to many places including to the Holy Land, France, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Medjugorje, and Guadalupe, Mexico. This was indeed a very thrilling experience, taking in the many treasures of the Church and experiencing many cultures around the world.

I moved back home to St. Paul and earned my Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary's University. I hold a License in Marriage and Family Therapy from the State of Minnesota. Over the years I've been blessed to work with seminarians, priests, and the Catholic faithful.

My wife and I were married in 2012, and we have four kids.
