Faithful Catholic Counseling
Serving Metropolitan Kansas City and the State of Kansas

Hi, I'm Hunter Cook, and in my work with clients I bring a lifetime of experience along with in-depth knowledge of the Catholic faith and training in faith-integrated counseling. I enjoy working with clients from all faith traditions and in secular contexts as well.

The thing I love most about being a therapist is journeying with clients - helping INDIVIDUALS find wholeness, COUPLES restore intimacy, FAMILIES heal interaction patterns, and GROUPS support personal transformation.

Speaking of groups, new offerings (descriptions listed below) are now forming. Group therapy is a great way to begin healing in a cost-effective manner while leaning into life-giving social support.

I work from a trauma-informed lens and have AEDP Level I and EMDR Level II certifications. Having navigated many seasons of life, I have accumulated over 18 years of ministry experience helping people find healing and hope. Currently, I am working through steps to become a certified Catholic Spiritual Director so I can provide clients the very best in faith and therapy integration if that is what they seek. Alternatively, we can easily bracket the faith piece and stick with traditional therapy.

My office is modern and fresh, located in the co-working suites at the Creative Planning campus at 435 and Nall - the buildings with the big KC Heart facing 435. This location is centrally located in south KC and is easily accessible from all points in the metro. It also has a bustling hospitality kitchen with unlimited fresh coffee, tea, and fruit-infused water. There's even a weekday lunch spot and coffee shop next door for post-session journaling.

Regarding fees, clients are emailed monthly superbill statements they can submit for insurance reimbursement. Please see the schedule below for sliding scale options. We can work together to find ways to make counseling affordable for you.

Consider reaching out to book a free exploratory phone. I would love to hear your story, discuss your goals and ideas, and take those first steps together.

You are meant to live the abundant life. That journey can begin today! I look forward to making the connection.

Established as a Trauma Information Group using the curriculum of renown trauma therapists Drs. Herman and Kallivayalil, this group will be held for 10 weeks and cover self-contained specific topics. Members will gain a greater understanding of trauma, the mental health consequences of victimization, and how to begin the process of recovery. Members will be given handouts and worksheets to support their work, which they can take to their individual therapists for further processing and exploration.

“Overcoming Barriers and Finding Your Voice”

Using a structured, high-quality curriculum, this group will meet for 10 weeks. Members will begin to master the essentials of assertive communication and practice their budding skills together. This type of therapy is an investment of time and effort, but the positive impacts on relationships, home life, and one’s career can be tangible and life changing. Clients have shared how learning these skills revolutionized how they show up around others - stronger, wiser, and happier. This is a perfect group for anyone seeking to overcome people pleasing, boundaries, and communication anxiety/frustration.
