Thank you for taking the time to read more about my work here at the CatholicTherapist.com. I hope this information can help you discern if my approach is right for you.
My therapy style is based on attachment theory and the belief that to be psychologically healthy we have to have safe, secure relationships. These relationships, both positive and negative, begin in childhood and impact how we relate to others throughout our lives. Most importantly though, good relationships can be healing including the relationship you build during the therapy process.
I use empirically supported strategies in session to help children, families, individuals, and couples struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relational problems, and other childhood and transitional life issues. My style draws from emotion-focused and interpersonal processing approaches. I also use many mindfulness and CBT techniques to teach my patients how to approach their issues more effectively. I have a developing interest in using Internal Family Systems (IFS). My work with children focuses on play and encouraging stronger bonds between caregiver and child. I consider my Catholic faith to be foundational in my life and thus strive to provide therapy that aligns with Catholic teaching. My prayer is that therapy only strengthens your faith and your relationship with God, who is the ultimate Healer.
Regardless of the presenting issue, my sessions are a collaborative journey tailored to your individual needs and values. I would be honored to be on this healing journey with you.
