Hello! I'm Edwin Dilone, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who specializes in helping adult males who are experiencing life struggles and mental distress. I offer Christian-oriented psychotherapy based on the Catholic tradition. This approach is helpful for men struggling with personal and societal challenges by addressing their issues through a spiritual lens while integrating evidence-based psychological practices.

Here's how I can help you:

1. Affirming Masculine Identity - I help men explore their masculine identity in a healthy way by looking at Biblical models of manhood. A Catholic approach can challenge unhealthy stereotypes about masculinity—such as the need to be emotionally stoic or overly self-reliant—and instead promote a balanced view where strength and vulnerability coexist. Examples from Scripture, like David’s emotional openness or Joseph's integrity, can provide inspiration for men struggling with anxiety and depression.

2. Addressing Shame and Guilt - Many men struggle with feelings of guilt or shame, especially in the context of their roles as fathers, husbands, or providers. Christian psychotherapy emphasizes the grace and forgiveness offered through Christ, providing a pathway to healing that can remove the burden of shame. Through counseling, men can learn to accept their imperfections and grow in faith as they seek to live out their God-given roles.

3. Handling Anger and Aggression - For men who struggle with anger or aggression, faith-based therapy can help them understand these emotions in the light of Biblical principles like self-control, patience, and forgiveness. Through a Christian framework, I can help you develop strategies for managing your emotions and aligning your actions with Christ-like behavior.

4. Support for Relationship Issues - My Christian approach often includes a focus on Biblical principles for relationships, such as love, respect, and servant leadership. For men facing marital or family challenges, a Christian-oriented approach can provide spiritual guidance on how to build healthier, more fulfilling relationships, while also addressing the psychological roots of issues like communication breakdowns or relational conflict.

5. Guidance in Vocational Struggles - Many men struggle with their sense of purpose, often tied to their work or calling. I can help you connect your vocational aspirations with a sense of divine purpose. This approach reassures men that their work is valuable in God's eyes, and it helps align their career goals with their spiritual calling.

6. Overcoming Addiction - Men grappling with addiction—whether it be substance abuse, pornography, or other forms—can benefit from a Christian perspective that emphasizes both the psychological aspects of addiction and the spiritual warfare element. I can help you break free from the grip of addiction by fostering a deeper reliance on God’s strength, emphasizing accountability, and encouraging spiritual disciplines.

7. Dealing with Depression and Anxiety - Christian therapy offers a space where men can bring their struggles with depression and anxiety to both a psychological and spiritual level. My approach integrates Catholic teachings on hope, peace, and trust in God’s sovereignty, helping men deal with life's uncertainties and find emotional balance through faith.

8. Building Resilience through Faith - Christian psychotherapy can cultivate resilience by helping men draw on their faith during difficult times. Prayer, meditation on Scripture, and a belief in God’s presence can provide a powerful foundation for enduring life's challenges, while psychological tools provide the practical means to cope with stress and adversity.

9. Encouraging Spiritual Growth - A Christian counseling approach can provide an opportunity for men to grow spiritually as they deal with personal struggles. The therapy process can help you develop a deeper relationship with God, encourage you to engage in spiritual disciplines, and ultimately find healing not only for your mental health but also for your spiritual well-being.

10. Navigating Fatherhood and Family Roles - Many men feel overwhelmed or unsure about their roles as fathers and husbands. I can help you understand and embrace your role in light of Biblical teachings on family leadership, sacrificial love, and serving your family. It can provide both practical tools and spiritual encouragement for you to step confidently into your God-given responsibilities.

By combining psychological insights with spiritual principles, I offer a holistic approach that help you find healing and purpose in your life.

Bio:
As a young man, I struggled with handling tough emotions at work, home, and in society. I faced depression, anxiety, worries, and fears while navigating the community. I often needed space to be alone. It was very isolating to face my insecurities and fears after setbacks. Deconstructing my negative emotions and feelings with the help of counseling and my Catholic faith turned out to be an essential and healthy part of my development.

In retrospect, by addressing head on my experiences of anger, sadness, shame, guilt, fear, and discontent, through the lens of my Catholic faith, I have taken ownership of my unique identity of a flourishing and thriving Christian man. It enabled me to develop a sense of compassion towards other men facing difficult challenges at work, home, and the social environment. Therefore, turning toward a career in the field of mental health was a natural outcome for a vocation that matches Christian values and virtues.
