I use a multitude of clinical techniques, however, I primarily utilize a cognitive-behavioral approach based upon researched psychological practice and Catholic spiritual principles. I derive these principles from the teachings of the Catholic Church, the writings of the saints, the Scriptures and my training in theology as well as the writings of many current Catholic practitioners. Cognitive psychology teaches that we must replace thinking errors with more effective thoughts and behaviors in order to achieve emotional and behavioral health. I believe that the most effective thinking is based upon truth, and that truth revealed by Jesus Christ and given to us by the Church.
I also believe that healing is best done within the context of a trusting and understanding relationship. My training in existential phenomenological psychology from Duquesne University as well as my commitment to true love of neighbor is my basis for forming and maintaining the healing relationship for my patients.
