Message from Therapist

I specialize in personalized mental health treatment for children, adolescents, and young adults struggling with ADHD, mood dysregulation, anxiety, and other mental health issues. I help my patients find relief from depression or irritability, decrease anger outbursts, build positive self-esteem, improve self-confidence, foster healthier relationships, thrive at school and work, and build towards a hopeful future.

With expertise in both General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, I provide an integrative approach that addresses the root causes of thoughts, behaviors and feelings through medication management, psychotherapy, life skills coaching, nutritional supplementation, and more.

In my work with Child and Adolescent Psychiatry: Just as one works with a pediatrician over the first 18 years of life, I work with my patients over an extended period to improve and maintain optimal mental health through each stage of development. As a trusted provider for your family, I also partner with parents in supporting their children to become more joyful and confident individuals.

In my practice, I view each person as made in the image and likeness of God, deserving of dignity and respect. My integrative approach to mental health addresses the root causes of thoughts, behaviors, and feelings, recognizing the importance of the spiritual dimension of the human person. I collaborate with my patients to create a personalized plan of care which may include medication management, psychotherapy, psychoeducation, lifestyle and life skills coaching, lab testing, nutrition, supplementation, and sleep hygiene.

Therapy can be a very rewarding and healing experience, transforming many lives and families. While some may think that faith alone should be enough, it is important to recognize that Catholics face the same stresses, hurts, and problems as others. Finding a therapist who shares your faith and values ensures that your spiritual beliefs are respected and integrated into the therapeutic process. I am committed to adhering to the teachings of the Catholic Church, ensuring that practices in areas of concern align with Catholic doctrine.

I believe that having someone walking alongside you is half the battle; knowledge and expertise will guide our path. With a focus on holistic healing, I aim to help my patients reintegrate physically, emotionally, rationally, and spiritually. By seeking Truth and aligning with God’s plan, we can pursue a happier and healthier future.

Bio:
My path to psychiatry started with my mom, who was a doctor in the Philippines but had to leave her career to move our family to the U.S. and pursue new opportunities. Once we settled in South Texas, I spent my teen years deeply involved in youth ministry and growing in my faith. This foundation in faith inspired me to actively serve the youth during my college years, and I even considered becoming a full-time missionary after graduation. Ultimately, I decided to go to medical school, in part to carry on my mom’s dream of becoming a doctor. As I progressed through my medical training, I found that psychiatry uniquely allowed me to serve others holistically—mind, body, and spirit—reflecting the Catholic understanding of the human person as made in the image and likeness of God.

Mental health difficulties also found their way into my own life. My husband is an Air Force veteran with over 14 years of service, including three war-zone deployments during our first years of marriage. His struggle with PTSD gave me a firsthand look into the far-reaching impact of psychiatric illness on individuals and families. Additionally, my husband and I struggled with infertility for many years, facing the hopelessness and devastation that accompanied it. This experience led to my own battle with depression. We are now gratefully blessed with three children, who motivate us to take care of our mental health and be emotionally present for them. Throughout these trials, my faith has been a guiding light, reinforcing the belief that God's grace can transform suffering into growth.

After finishing my psychiatry training in 2019, I joined a pediatric group as an in-house child psychiatrist until 2022. I worked closely with my patients’ pediatricians to care for them both body and mind. During this time, I also started my private practice, and several patients from my fellowship and the pediatric group chose to continue working with me after I left. Many of them are now young adults, and it has been an honor to witness them push through, overcome, and thrive despite their mental health challenges. It is my hope to continue walking alongside many others from trial to triumph throughout my professional career.

Therapy, when aligned with faith, can be a powerful tool for healing and transformation. I believe in integrating the spiritual dimension into my practice, respecting the Catholic teachings on issues of moral concerns. This approach ensures that my patients' spiritual beliefs are honored and incorporated into their therapeutic journey.
