It was after working as a campus missionary with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) that I started to realize my passion for serving others. I loved accompanying students on their journeys to become the men and women that they are called to be. I decided to continue my education in Mental Health Counseling so that I could meet people where they are at and work with them through some of their most difficult trials. As a therapist, I am amazed at the insight and strength of those that I work with, and I hope to help my clients find lasting peace and joy.
I use a combination of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and EMDR, which has been highly recommended for those suffering from trauma, but I’ve found it helpful for just about everyone. I have worked with adults, adolescents, couples and families, and groups to address issues such as depression and anxiety; trauma; grief and loss; and co-occurring disorders. I do speak Spanish, though have not provided many counseling services strictly in Spanish. I've generally found that if my client is Spanish-speaking, they also have an English-speaking family member to clarify anything that might get lost in translation. I have also worked with children and adolescents who speak English, and have parents who speak Spanish, and I can then communicate with their parents to help with treatment.
My Catholic faith is the center of my life and very much influences my perspective when working with clients. Depending on what my client is comfortable with, I enjoy incorporating prayer, spiritual reading, and the sacraments into treatment. Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, crossword puzzles, going for walks, and curling up with a good book.
I am currently holding counseling sessions via Zoom as well as in the office. I offer traditional talk therapy as well as EMDR online. And while I do hold virtual sessions, I am only licensed to practice with clients residing in the state of Indiana.
Do not postpone reaching out for help! You have the answers already- let’s work together to find them.
One of my greatest strengths is the variety of experiences that I have had in counseling and mental health. I began working as a college campus missionary, where I had obtained extensive experience in working with young adults on campus - both in spiritual and psychological issues. I also have several years of experience working at a psychiatric hospital, both in group therapy and individual therapy settings, with adolescents and adults.
Since moving to private practice, I have gained considerable experience in working with individual clients from childhood through adult on a wide variety of issues and also with couples and families. It is an honor to work with each person that I encounter and I thank God for the call to serve Him in this capacity!
